Stuffed Cabbage Rolls are popular here in Hawaii and easy to make.
Use your stove or as I am doing today, a Crock Pot.
- 10-12 Cabbage leaves
- 1.5# Ground Beef
- 1 egg
- Minced or Diced Onion (amount depends on your taste)
- Salt & Pepper (amount depends on your taste)
- 1/4 t. Cinnamon
- 1- 15 oz. + 1- 8 oz Can Tomato Sauce
Bring Water to a Boil in a large pot, turn off the heat, and add your Cabbage leaves. Let your leaves soak for about 5 Minutes. Remove and drain off excess liquid.
Mix Ground Beef, Egg, Onion, S&P and Cinnamon in a Bowl, mix well. Place 2 Tablespoons of your meat mixture into a Cabbage leaf. Roll tightly, similar to a Burrito or Egg Roll. You can use string or large toothpicks to hold your Stuffed Cabbage Roll in place.
Place your Stuffed Cabbage Rolls into a casserole dish or Crock Pot.
Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 Hour. Or if using a Crock Pot, Cook on High for 1 hour and change temperature to Low and cook for 5-6 Hours.
Server over hot “sticky white Rice”.
Stuffed Cabbage Rolls freeze well if you want to make extra.
